A Young Leader's Perspective
Jasson, a dedicated Agricultural High School student from Sonsonate, is passionate about renewing the agricultural landscape. As a participant in the Leadership course offered by the Colibrí Program, he’s not just learning about farming, but also about how to lead and make a positive impact on his community.
Understanding Leadership Beyond Command
"While it is true that we live normally now, it is also true that in the future all environmental problems are going to affect us, so my mission is to continue working to renew the agricultural landscape," says Jasson.
Every Friday, Jasson joins his classmates in workshops designed to enhance their skills and self-awareness. These sessions help them understand their personalities, improve teamwork, and learn the importance of listening and contributing to society. For Jasson, these meetings are more than educational; they are empowering. He feels supported and enjoys the camaraderie, finding the environment comfortable and free from pressure.
"I've learned that a good leader doesn't have to be someone who commands all the time but someone who supports others, acknowledges their efforts, and is willing to admit their own mistakes," he reflects.
Personal Growth and Responsibility
The leadership course has been instrumental in Jasson's personal development. It has taught him the importance of managing emotions and acting with responsibility. This, he believes, will not only help him become a better person but will also equip him to create better opportunities for his peers.
A Passion for Agriculture and Environmental Stewardship
Jasson's love for agriculture stems from a deep appreciation for plants, animals, and the environment. His interest in the climate, soil, and societal impacts of farming drives his desire to find solutions that can improve soil conditions and protect the environment. He envisions completing his studies and using his knowledge to contribute to nature conservation efforts.
With a clear vision for the future, Jasson is determined to continue his journey in agriculture and leadership, aiming to make a lasting positive impact on his community and the environment.
